O que te mata nesta vida (review in English)

I read this book as a partnership with the author Liza Abreu 📚

O que te mata nesta vida (What kills you in this life, in free translation) is a Brazilian romance with a good drama and everyday life.

The book presents some reflections on why we are the way we are. As an immigrant in Canada, I really enjoyed learning more about Kim’s family as they live in a new country. And as a young adult, I enjoyed following Virginia’s newly conquered life, which is also (re)discovering herself in a new place away from the family.

Quote (in Portuguese)

Costumava achar que aos vinte e seis seria uma pessoa importante, conquistaria uma carreira e teria todas as respostas, mas a única certeza que tinha era que, segundo um tal piadista da internet, estava velha demais para o Leonardo di Caprio.

She jokes that when she thought about doing 26 years old, she wanted to be someone important, but everything she is now is just being too old for Leonardo di Caprio (known for dating young women).
